Johnson, Tisch, Mara Submit Super Bowl Bid
The Giants and Jets this morning officially submit their combined bid for Super Bowl XLVIII to the NFL, hoping to strengthen the already solid support to bring the Big Game to their New Meadowlands Stadium in ’14. A first look inside the bid reveals the teams are using their biggest perceived weakness, the potentially frigid February weather in N.Y., as a strength, touting the game as a chance to embrace “old school” football. The teams include a host of weather contingency plans such as providing fans with hand and seat warmers and locating fire pits in the parking lots to keep the crowd cozy. The bid also places almost all of the major events surrounding the game in Midtown N.Y. and in the area around the Meadowlands, and touts public transportation as the best way to move the massive crowds around town.
