How has UFC President Dana White made the sport mainstream?

SI.com's Ross Tucker writes of the Dez Bryant-Jeff Ireland controversy, "The question was inappropriate but it was inappropriate mainly because it literally has nothing to do with football. It was not, however, unacceptable because your company's Human Resources handbook states that question cannot be asked" (SI.com). The controversy also raises several secondary questions about NFL business issues.

The N.Y. TIMES' Jeré Longman writes, "The British can be condescending and uninformed about the game in the United States, viewing American soccer with the same smugness that the United States might view English baseball. Not everyone is so dismissive. Actually, the view of American soccer here is nuanced and complicated" (N.Y. TIMES).
