Mariners Unveil Five New Commercials As Part Of '10 Ad Campaign
Published March 17, 2010
The Mariners yesterday unveiled their '10 TV ad campaign with five 30-second spots featuring 12 players, two coaches, manager Don Wakamatsu and GM Jack Zduriencik. The ads, via Copacino+Fujikado, Seattle, will debut on the air today during FSN Northwest's broadcast of a Mariners-Rangers Spring Training game. The ads will run throughout the season on local and regional broadcast and cable channels. Fans can vote on their favorite spots after viewing them online (Mariners). One spot, titled "Meaningful Moments," features DH Ken Griffey Jr. "having a heart-to-heart with" RF Ichiro Suzuki, but Griffey "can't resist a practical joke that leaves his teammate screaming in his seat." Another ad, "Running Catch," shows CF Franklin Gutierrez "on the golf course shagging tee shots for" Wakamatsu and Zduriencik. Zduriencik's "deadpan delivery is spot on." Ps Felix Hernandez, Cliff Lee, Ryan Rowland-Smith and David Aardsma are featured in other ads (SEATTLE TIMES, 3/17). In Seattle, Gerry Spratt wrote, "All told, it's a pretty strong effort" (SEATTLEPI.com, 3/16).
