MLB Commissioner BUD SELIG has appointed former MLB VP/Baseball Operations SANDY ALDERSON to serve as a consultant to the league in its efforts to reform baseball's operations in the Dominican Republic. Alderson in '09 served as Chair of a committee that evaluated the operations of MLB and its 30 clubs in the country (MLB). Alderson's "major goal" will be in "further preventing age and identity fraud and performance-enhancing drug use" (ESPN.com, 3/8).
