FSN Hiring Local Beat Writers To Cover Teams Online, On TV
Published March 1, 2010
In an effort to expand traffic its local Web sites, FSN is looking to hiring local beat writers to cover teams both online and on TV. The net is preparing to announce the first of several such hirings this week, when it confirms the hiring of Hal McCoy to cover the Reds for FS Ohio. In addition to writing stories for the FS Ohio Web site, McCoy will participate in online chats, web videos and provide analysis for the net's Reds' coverage. "It's a model we'd like to replicate with all our Web sites," said FSN Senior VP/Emerging Technologies Clark Pierce. "Guys like Hal know their teams inside and out and already have a loyal following. They are a great resource to tap into into." McCoy will begin reports from Cincinnati's Spring Training home in Goodyear, Arizona. McCoy retired from the Dayton Daily News after last season after the paper said it would cut back on the way it covers the team.
