Quote of the Day
"To me, it was the NFL being a thug and trying to intimidate small business owners into giving up what the NFL does not own.”
-- U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), on the NFL trying to claim ownership rights to the “Who Dat” phrase ("Outside The Lines," ESPN, 2/1).

CBS Sells Out Of Super Bowl Ad Inventory Almost a week before its broadcast of Super Bowl XLIV on Sunday, CBS announces it is sold out of its ad inventory for the game. The news is in contrast to NBC taking until the day ahead of last year’s Super Bowl before it announced a sellout, though to be fair that did come amid the lowest points of the economic downturn. The ad roster this year contains many familiar faces, including Anheuser-Busch and Go Daddy, as well as first-time buyers like Kia Motors and Flo TV. As Super Bowl Sunday approaches, companies continue to disclose information about their ads. But it is clear no ad is generating more pregame buzz than the effort from Focus on the Family. The reported pro-life ad continues to divide critics -- some believe the ad could stir healthy discussions on the highly volatile topic, while others think the NFL championship is simply the wrong platform for the message.
