Indians To Promote GM Mark Shapiro To President After Season

The Indians this afternoon will announce they are promoting GM MARK SHAPIRO to team President following the '10 season. Current Indians President PAUL DOLAN, son of team Owner LARRY DOLAN, will elevate to team Chair & CEO, while Assistant GM CHRIS ANTONETTI will be promoted to GM. The moves are a firm vote of continued continuity by the Dolans, as Shapiro has been with the club since '92, and has been GM since late '01. Shapiro is a '06 SportsBusiness Journal Forty Under 40 winner and a two-time Sporting News Exec of the Year. Antonetti, meanwhile, has been with the Indians since '99, and at 35, also continues a trend within many MLB clubs of entrusting their baseball operations to younger executives. The role of DENNIS LEHMAN, Indians Exec VP/Business, will be unchanged.
