"MNF" Dominates List Of Most-Viewed Cable Telecasts If anyone needed further proof of the appeal and popularity of televised sports, especially the NFL, take a look at our Back of the Book. In closing the loop on '09, an examination of Nielsen data shows that sports programming accounted for 19 of the top 25 most-viewed telecasts on cable TV over the last year. As is the norm, the NFL was dominant -- the 16 "MNF" telecasts on ESPN that fell into the measured time period all ranked in the top 25, and represented nine of the top 10 cable broadcasts. Meanwhile, sports nets continued to have a good story to tell, with most seeing increases in total day and primetime viewership. ESPN and ESPN2 both had their most-viewed year ever for total-day and primetime, while Speed, Versus, NFL Network and Golf Channel all saw gains.
