  • Finchem (l) Says Tour Has Bigger Concerns Than Woods' Break

PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem today makes his first major public comments in the wake of the Tiger Woods scandal, reiterating Tour officials are "more concerned about the continued recession and the economic factors" than Tiger's indefinite break. Finchem says, "The sales of sponsorships and television advertising is what's key to our sport and we've had a very good year." Finchem admits it will not be easy to move on without the world's top-ranked player, but he not surprisingly touts the opportunity to create new stars in his absence. Meanwhile, the fallout continues for Tiger, as a new poll ranks Woods second among the year's biggest disappointments. But that would pale by comparison if a link can be established between Woods and PED use -- USA TODAY's Christine Brennan notes his career "likely would be over."
