Lakers Top Major Pro Sports Teams With 1.3M Twitter Followers

Most major-league pro sports team jumped onto the Twitter bandwagon in '09. Among MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS and WNBA team Twitter accounts, the Lakers lead all clubs with 1.3 million followers through December 15, while the NBA's Bucks have sent out the most tweets (4,464). Among the six leagues below, the Red Bulls, Colts and Islanders were the only teams to not have official team Twitter accounts, while the Eagles and Steelers have yet to tweet from their official team pages. Below are the top five official team Twitter accounts for MLB, the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS and WNBA ranked by number of followers as of December 15.
