HELPING HAND: Cyclist LANCE ARMSTRONG today on his Livestrong.com Web site is introducing a new feature called MyPlate D, which was "developed for people who have type 2 diabetes to help them break food down to its nutritional components." Livestrong.com nutritional consultant ALYSE LEVINE, who helped develop MyPlate D, said that the site is "free and is the largest food and fitness database online" (USA TODAY, 12/14).
TALKING BASEBALL: In N.Y., David Waldstein noted "about 90 female baseball employees" last week gathered in Indianapolis at the second annual Working Women in Baseball conference, held in conjunction with the Baseball Winter Meetings. Female baseball employees, "mostly from the minor leagues, attended the 90-minute seminar to exchange ideas, offer support and encouragement, and build a growing network of women in the sport." Topics at the conference, which "was the idea of" MiLB Assistant to the Marketing Dir/Sponsorship Development Heather Raburn, "included career and family, leadership qualities and workplace etiquette."
