Fleischer Defends BCS At Intercollegiate Forum

As college football once again finds itself dealing with a PR headache heading into the bowl season, Ari Fleischer addresses the heavy-hitters in college sports on behalf of the BCS during in a keynote address today at the SBJ/SBD IMG Intercollegiate Athletics Forum. Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe yesterday supported the BCS, saying he has not "seen a playoff proposal" that his league would stand behind. Beebe: "I don't think the bowls could exist alongside a playoff system." However, college football's postseason format continues to cause a stir on Capitol Hill, as Rep. Joe Barton leads the passing of an anti-BCS bill through a Congressional subcommittee. There are many hurdles the bill must clear before any law is passed, but it shows the increased resentment for the current set-up.
