McLeod Has Spent Past Seven Years With The Red Sox

The Padres officially introduced JASON MCLEOD as VP & Assistant GM. McLeod, who worked for the Padres from '94-'03, rejoins the club after seven years with the Red Sox, most recently as Dir of Amateur Scouting (Padres). Red Sox Assistant Scouting Dir AMIEL SAWDAYE is a "candidate to replace" McLeod as Red Sox GM THEO EPSTEIN "plans to fill the spot from within." Epstein said, "Rather than bring someone in and try to force-fit them to our scouting philosophy and approach, I think we're going to promote from within and allow the system to continue to grow" (BOSTON GLOBE, 12/5).
