Sternberg Will Leave Fox At End Of The Year After 12 Years With Company

In this week's SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, John Ourand reports Fox Cable Networks Exec VP & COO DAVID STERNBERG "will leave at the end of December" after nearly 12 years with the company. Sternberg "helped Fox expand soccer, action sports and international sports channels" in the U.S. Sternberg: "I'm not ready to announce anything yet. Right now my only plan is to sit on a beach in Hawaii and reacquaint myself with my wife and kids." Sternberg has "held the same position at Fox since the end of 2003 and is known for his business sensibility and pragmatism." For "most of the 12 years Sternberg worked at Fox, he was tagged as one of the company's brightest young executives." In Sternberg's place, Fuel TV Senior VP & GM C.J. OLIVARES "will continue to oversee Fuel TV." Fox has "not decided what the management structure for Fox Soccer Channel or Fox Sports en Espanol will be" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 11/30 issue).

EXECS: In this week's SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, Terry Lefton reports former Mets Senior VP/Corporate Sponsorships TOM MURPHY has joined IMG College as VP & GM selling the unit's Univ. of Connecticut property. Meanwhile, former Johnson & Johnson Dir of Olympic Marketing DAVE MINGEY has joined PepsiCo North America as VP/Marketing for the company's energy drink portfolio, which includes Amp Energy (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 11/30 issue).
