ESPN.com's David Newton listed Stewart-Haas co-Owner/driver Tony Stewart as his "Best New Team Owner" in NASCAR, writing Stewart "took over an organization that was a useless also-ran and turned it into a championship contender." And he did it while "continuing to drive successfully, something many people thought wasn't possible in this era of specialization." Stewart "brought new sponsors to the sport, revived Ryan Newman's career and made Stewart-Haas Racing a respected operation." Newton also listed Stewart-Haas Racing Dir of Competition Bobby Hutchens as his "Executive of the Year," and wrote Hutchens "did a remarkable job pulling everything together this season" (ESPN.com, 11/24).
CROCODILE ROCK: The AP's Chris Lehourites reported tennis player Andy Roddick Tuesday announced the extension of his "sponsorship deal with Lacoste for another four years." Financial details "were not announced." Lacoste CEO Christophe Chenut said, "Andy will continue to be a major ambassador for the crocodile, thanks to his natural elegance, thanks to his fair play and smile" (AP, 11/24). Roddick in September signed a four-year, $10M extension with Babolat to use the company's racket and wear its footwear (THE DAILY)
ROUNDUP: ATP World Tour Indianapolis Tennis Championships Tournament Dir Kevin Martin said that the tourney is "talking with a potential title sponsor, but if that falls through, the 2010 event could be in jeopardy."
