  • Nets Again Eyeing Brooklyn After Win In Court

The Nets have yet to win a game this season, but the team earned a big off-court victory today when the New York State Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the Atlantic Yards development in a crucial lawsuit. Critics argue that eminent domain on behalf of Forest City Ratner -- a private developer -- violates the state's Constitution. But the court ruling allows Bruce Ratner to continue construction on the mega-project in Brooklyn, which the Nets could call home as early as the '11-12 season. The news appears to remove any potential obstacle that could impair Mikhail Prokhorov's planned takeover of the franchise. The ruling paves the way for a "frantic six weeks in which the developer must accomplish several key steps," including informing the NJSEA where the Nets plan to play next season.
