  • Toning Down Tailgating Part Of NFL's Fan Efforts

    Sports leagues and teams are starting to focus more and more on fan behavior as part of their commitment to the gameday experience, and a USA TODAY cover story today explores the NFL's efforts under its Fan Code of Conduct. Roger Goodell has made fan behavior a priority, which he reaffirmed earlier this week when a parent told him of having to leave a game early due to poor behavior. While the league has issued recommendations to teams to improve fan conduct, some are ignoring suggestions on tailgating and alcohol limits as they "worry about driving away their most loyal customers." However, all 32 teams have installed text-messaging lines to anonymously report bad behavior, and some colleges have also created similar services.
