Sprint Promotes Gaffney To VP/Corporate Marketing

Sprint has promoted Dir of Sports & Entertainment Marketing STEVE GAFFNEY to VP/Corporate Marketing. Gaffney will be responsible for managing all aspects of Sprint's sponsorships, including the NFL, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association (Sprint).

AROUND THE BASES: The Angels Friday said they have signed GM TONY REAGINS to a "long-term" contract extension, believed to be at least three years in length. Reagins said, "There's a comfort level from [Owner] ARTE MORENO and myself as far as the length of the contract goes. ... I am honored and I appreciate deeply the confidence that Arte has shown in not only myself, but the job that we're doing as an organization" (L.A. TIMES, 11/7)....The Indians have hired former Mets Special Assistant to the GM RAMON PENA as Dir of Latin American Operations (Indians).

EXECS: The GLOBE & MAIL's Ingrid Peritz reports Quebec City is "reportedly trying to solidify its appeal" as a future host for the '22 or '26 Winter Games by hiring former Bell Canada Senior VP/Enterprise Sales CLAUDE ROUSSEAU to lead a newly-formed group called "Team Quebec" (GLOBE & MAIL, 11/9)....Blake Krikorian, co-Founder and former Chair & CEO of Sling Media, has joined the Clicker Media Inc. BOD, a start-up technology outfit seeking to develop a complete programming guide to Internet television.
