USOC Inks Agreement With DISC Sports & Spine Center
Published November 9, 2009
The USOC today announced an agreement with California-based DISC Sports & Spine Center that will see the spinal and orthopedic specialist provide athletes access to its outpatient care. Under terms of the services-in-kind deal, DISC becomes the official medical services provider of the USOC through the '12 Olympics and will have rights to the USOC's five-ring logo. The partnership will see DISC administer USOC medical records so that athletes, physicians and medical personnel can more easily track and follow the care of an athlete anywhere in the world. USOC athletes will have access to DISC's sports medicine professionals who can provide outpatient care in spine and orthopedic surgery, chiropractic care, acupuncture, performance psychology, nutrition and rehabilitation. USOC CMO Lisa Baird said, "This is a real partnership to provide medical care to our athletes. It has enormous real value to us." DISC, which was founded by spinal surgery specialist Dr. Robert Bray, also works with the NHL's Kings and NBA's Clippers.
