EPL's Fulham Hires Fenway Sports Group For Marketing Work
Published October 19, 2009
Fenway Sports Group (FSG) has signed a deal to become the "exclusive North American sales agent" for EPL club Fulham FC, "putting the agency into European soccer and marking its first pact with a foreign-based entity," according to Eric Fisher of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. FSG will seek out a "variety of commercial partnerships" for Fulham, "primarily a jersey sponsorship for the 2010-11 season and beyond." The club's current jersey deal with LG expires after this season, and Fulham is "interested in expanding its options among American companies." FSG also will "seek out other commercial opportunities," and there has been "some early discussion of a potential exhibition game by Fulham at Fenway Park." Terms of the partnership were not disclosed, but the deal was "described as a short-term arrangement" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 10/19 issue). The FINANCIAL TIMES' Matthew Garrahan reports FSG also is "exploring selling the naming rights" of Fulham's Craven Cottage stadium (FINANCIAL TIMES, 10/19).
