Goodell Casts Doubts On
Limbaugh's Rams BidRoger Goodell’s forceful comments on Rush Limbaugh are a clear indication that any attempt by the controversial talk-show host to join the ranks of the NFL will not come easily. Goodell says simply, "Divisive comments are not what the NFL is all about." While most team owners remain silent on a possible Limbaugh bid, Colts Owner Jim Irsay chimes in, saying, “I would not be comfortable.” Limbaugh tries to capture some of the PR message by issuing a release expressing his “love” of the NFL. But some observers see Goodell’s frank remarks as a significant blow to any Limbaugh bid, with YAHOO SPORTS' Dan Wetzel stating that Goodell "isn't going to take a stand that strong against a potential owner unless he knows Limbaugh is never going to be an owner." Meanwhile, POLITICS DAILY's Carl Cannon wonders if this situation "raises new kinds of issues for athletes" about who they play for.
