LPGA Deputy Commish Galloway Will Step Down As Part Of Layoffs

| Galloway Has Worked For LPGA Since '00 |
LPGA Deputy Commissioner Libba Galloway will step down at the end of the year as part of a layoff of eight LPGA staff members, marking the latest upheaval in the LPGA’s upper management as it continues the search for a new commissioner. Galloway’s departure comes nearly three months after Carolyn Bivens was pushed out of her post as commissioner and in the middle of interviews to find her replacement. Acting LPGA Commissioner Marty Evans in a statement said “changes in our tournament business and other effects of the world-wide recession” resulted in the elimination of the position of deputy commissioner, a job that was created in '07 for Galloway. Based on tax forms, the LPGA will save around $250,000 a year in salary and travel expenses by eliminating the post. Galloway joined the tour in '00 and handled corporate governance and compliance, legal affairs, tournament operations and television distribution. The LPGA said it has eliminated eight total positions but besides Galloway would not specify the individuals or what roles they held. In a separate statement, Evans said, “The LPGA has been forced to eliminate seven positions, effective immediately. We are losing members of the LPGA who have provided significant service to the association; we thank them and wish them well in their future endeavors.”
