| Islanders Scrap Traditional Printed Programs To Go Digital |
When the Islanders opened the '09-10 NHL season against the Penguins last Saturday it marked the first time in the team's 1,400-plus home games at Nassau Coliseum that it did not sell a game program. As part of the Islanders' "Goal Green" initiative this season, the club has scrapped the traditional printed game program and is bringing fans into the digital age by offering a free "Islanders Digital Gameday Program" for all of the team's home games. The program, which is entirely interactive, with sweepstakes mentions, partner ads and live click-thru's, features all the staples of a program including lineups and game notes, along with up-to-date stats, an inside look at the morning practice, videos and team ticket promotions. It is e-mailed on gamedays at noon to fans who subscribe (Islanders).
