  • Yankees To Freeze Or Cut Vast Majority Of Tickets In '10

The fans spoke, and now the Yankees have listened. Facing heavy criticism for misreading the ticket market in its new ballpark, the team surprisingly announces a plan to freeze or cut 97% of full season-ticket prices next season. The club will maintain prices for 84% of seats at Yankee Stadium and will drop the cost for 13% of all tickets, including the majority in the Legends Suite section that infamously sat empty earlier this year. The $2,500 seats now will cost $1,500, and the Yanks reportedly also have no plans to make ticket holders cover the automatic 3-6% price hike for the '10 or '11 seasons upon which they had previously agreed. Meanwhile, the Yankees continue to push for more non-baseball revenue -- reports have the team close to a four-year deal to hold a college football bowl game featuring the Big East and Big 12 beginning in '10.
