HEADING NORTH ON I-5? Oceanside City Councilmember Rocky Chavez in an op/ed wrote, "I can envision the positive impact on Oceanside that could come from finding a way to offer the Chargers franchise a new home here." But to "do it right, we would need to utilize public transportation," and "we would need to limit the parking for a stadium so that people would be drawn to use our trains and buses." Chavez: "We would want to build an environmentally friendly stadium, one that has the majority of its bulk in the ground to reduce the impact on the skyline but also to reduce the energy required to heat and cool it. ... Let's have a thoughtful discussion about the options and the opportunities" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 9/13).
