Breeders' Cup CMO Peter Land Leaving Organization To Join Pepsi

Breeders' Cup CMO Peter Land is leaving the thoroughbred racing organization to join Pepsi in a senior communications job. Land becomes Senior VP/Communications for Pepsi North America’s lead beverage division on September 14. Land, a former NBA employee, will have responsibility for media relations, sports, entertainment, sponsorship, multicultural outreach and cause marketing for Pepsi, which has major sports sponsorships including MLB, the NFL, NHL and Dale Earnhardt Jr. for its Amp Energy brand. Land will report to PepsiCo Senior VP/Communications Julie Hamp. Land has been Breeders' Cup CMO since October '07. Prior to that, he headed Edelman’s sports and sponsorship practice in N.Y., and held marketing and communications jobs with the NBA, Kraft Foods and Cohn & Wolfe.
