The Univ. of Akron this afternoon will introduce Univ. of Minnesota Senior Associate AD for External Relations TOM WISTRCILL as AD, replacing MACK RHOADES, who left for the same position at the Univ. of Houston. Wistrcill previously served as Badger Sports Properties GM at the Univ. of Wisconsin (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 8/25)....Kent State Univ. (KSU) AD LAING KENNEDY will retire from the position after 16 years, effective June 30, 2010. KSU President LESTER LEFTON said that there will be a national search for Kennedy's replacement. Kennedy served on the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Selection Committee for five years, and previously served as Cornell Univ. AD for 11 years (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 8/25).
