TV Blackouts For Jaguars
BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER: The AP's Dan Gelston reported the Eagles' addition of QB Michael Vick has "not jeopardized the team's corporate support." Eagles VP/Sales & Service Marlyse Fant said that as of Wednesday, "none of the more than four dozen Eagles sponsors had pulled out." The Eagles last Friday, a day after signing Vick, heard from 15-20 sponsors, "most simply wishing they had been given advance notice." The Eagles sent a letter to their "top customers last week asking them to have faith that the team was not acting recklessly" (AP, 8/20).
WAY TO SAVE: In Houston, John McClain reports the Texans this season will be offering "special concessions and merchandise" deals in a "nod to the economy." For all home games at Reliant Stadium "bottled water will be available for $2, coffee for $2.50 and beer for $5." The team also will offer special $10 combo meals (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 8/21).
