VOTE FOR PEDRO: Wednesday night's Phillies-Cubs game on CSN Philadelphia, which featured P Pedro Martinez' Phillies debut, earned an 11.1 local rating and 330,000 HHs, marking the net's largest audience ever for a Phillies game. The previous record was set on July 21 for another Phillies-Cubs matchup. The record-setting rating bumps up the Phillies' season-long average on CSN Philadelphia to a 6.6 local rating and 196,000 HHs, up 25% over the same time period last year (CSN Philadelphia)….Wednesday night's Brewers-Padres game on FS Wisconsin earned an 8.3 local rating (75,144 HHs), up 26% from a 5.8 rating (52,510 HHs) for the same matchup the previous night. The Brewers that afternoon sent SS J.J. Hardy to the minors and designated RF Bill Hall for assignment (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 8/14).
NOTES: The August 7 Real Madrid-Toronto FC exhibition match averaged 90,000 viewers on GolTV, which "would be considered a miserable failure for most Canadian channels. But since the game was on a tiny digital channel named GolTV, this was a blockbuster" (THESTAR.com, 8/11)….Sports talk radio ratings for the month of July in the Dallas-Ft. Worth market show KTCK-AM remained the No. 1 station, while ESPN Radio 103.3 Dallas ranked second and KRLD-FM ranked third (DALLASNEWS.com, 8/14).
