Nike, Subsidiary Umbro Supplying Kits For Half Of EPL Clubs

The '09-10 English Premier league (EPL) kicks off this weekend, and Nike, along with subsidiary Umbro, will supply half of the league's kits. adidas and subsidiary Reebok, as well as French company le coq sportif, account for another three clubs apiece. U.K.-based Vandanel makes its debut as an EPL kit supplier for Wigan Athletic after the club used Champion last year. Seven clubs this season will feature some form of gambling/betting company as a shirt sponsor. Manchester United (ManU) shirt sponsor AIG remains the lone U.S.-based shirt sponsor in the EPL, though the company has already been replaced by U.S.-based Aon Corp. for the '10-11 season, as ManU signed a four-year, $30-32M deal with the insurance company in June.
