Real Salt Lake MF Kyle Beckerman Launches High-End T-Shirt Line
Published August 12, 2009
MLS Real Salt Lake (RSL) MF Kyle Beckerman has launched a "fashionable line of T-shirts" called KB5, according to James Edward of the DESERET NEWS. The line "features five unique designs, each in a variety of colors and shapes for men and women." Beckerman held a launch party for the line in Salt Lake City on Sunday, with teammates and friends "modeling the attire." Beckerman: "We tried to make some cool shirts that they can wear to the game, wear out to the club or a bar, or on a date. It's kind of versatile." Edward notes only one of the five designs is "soccer-related, which is kind of what he was hoping for." While Beckerman did not design the "cartoon King graphic for his first T-shirt," it was not until he "was put in contact with a local business that things really started to take off the past couple of months." Edward notes KB5 is the "second T-shirt clothing line with connections" to RSL, as former RSL D Brian Dunseth is a co-Owner of Bumpy Pitch, a "soccer-inspired line of high-end T-shirts and other merchandise" (DESERET NEWS, 8/12).
SHOW OF SUPPORT: THE HOCKEY NEWS' Ryan Kennedy reported Canadiens fans Jeremy Wirth and Kelly St-Pierre have started the Rated Rookies hockey line, which has "one set of hockey-themed shirts with another on the way." St-Pierre, a clothing industry veteran, said of the line, "I wanted to make shirts for myself and my friends to wear to games." Kennedy noted one shirt "featured a black triangle in the middle containing the phrase 'Die, Chara, die,'" in reference to Bruins D Zdeno Chara. The Chara shirt is the "best seller from the hockey line." Rated Rookies' second hockey line also has "a T-shirt response for fans of the Bruins, Leafs and all other teams out there: 'We have more Cups than you'" (THEHOCKEYNEWS.com, 8/7).
