Mercedes, American Express Begin Activation At PGA Championship
Published August 12, 2009
Mercedes-Benz, in its first year as the PGA of America’s official automobile, debuted the PGA Performance Center at this week’s PGA Championship in Minnesota. The tent, located near the practice range, weaves together the technological advancements in golf equipment and the Mercedes E-Class series by using static displays and a 60-foot-by-10-foot video screen. PGA teaching pros will also be on hand to analyze the putting strokes of ticket holders. Meanwhile, American Express is using its sponsorship of the event, in part, to reach Northwest WorldPerks Visa cardholders that became AmEx Delta SkyMiles members with the airlines’ recent merger. American Express will award Delta SkyMiles in drawings and contests held in AmEx-branded tents on the grounds of Hazeltine National Golf Club.
