New SEC Media Policy Restricts Highlight Usage The SEC has long been called a feeder system to the NFL, and it appears the conference is now taking a page from the pro league in regards to how various media outlets can access its highlights. The SEC plans to enact a policy placing restrictions on TV broadcasts, limiting the amount and lifespan of highlights as a way to protect its newly-formed digital network. The policy extends to press conferences, practices and any other league-related event, and also includes a ban on media outlets posting highlights online. While the conference will grant exemptions to some schools and networks, the policy is not being welcomed with open arms.
