What's Up For The Weekend? With NFL Network's Rich Eisen
Published August 7, 2009
|Eisen Looking Forward To Busy,
Enjoyable Weekend In Canton
Q: This weekend I am most looking forward to …
Eisen: Getting back to Canton. I missed last year because of the birth of my son, so it's been two years. The Hall of Fame was my first assignment at the NFL Network back in the summer of 2003, and it was love at first sight. I loved everything about the ceremony, the pageantry, the pridefulness of these immortals, if you will, that played the game, that built the foundation, and the city just goes nuts for it, and I loved it.
Q: Thing I most look forward to about going to Canton …
Eisen: Taking the piano at the Glenmoor Country Club and putting it in front of Steve Mariucci's door at night. But I think they're on to us now there, and I think that because I put it in my book, "Total Access," the commissioner knows about it now. So that cat is out of the bag. That's my Canton tradition. I guess I'm going to have to start a new one this year, I don't know what it's going to be yet, it usually just strikes me sometime around midnight.
Q: Thing I am looking forward to doing in my free time this weekend …
Eisen: Rod Woodson's post-induction party. I've been to many post-induction parties but I've never been to one of somebody who I consider a friend and a colleague, someone who I know personally, and have a great fondness for. Being at that is really going to be something special.
Q: Thing I will miss most about L.A. this weekend …
Eisen: The lack of humidity. The beach, Malibu. I'll be missing Malibu, I'll be missing my son and my wife obviously. I'm just thankful my son's first birthday doesn't coincide with the weekend, it's Wednesday, so it's sort of perfect timing.
