Texas, UNC Guaranteed $200,000 Each For Cowboys Stadium Game
Published August 4, 2009
The Univ. of Texas (UT) and the Univ. of North Carolina are “guaranteed $200,000 apiece” for their December 19 men’s basketball game at Cowboys Stadium, according to a copy of the schools' contract cited by Gary Jacobson of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Also, a “side letter between Cowboys Stadium and UT promises a $25,000 bonus if more than 35,000 tickets are sold; another $25,000 if more than 50,000 tickets are sold; and another $25,000 if more than 75,000 tickets are sold.” The contract indicates that both schools will receive “200 free tickets directly behind their benches,” and the side letter states that UT “gets up to 40 free hotel rooms for up to two nights.” A UT spokesperson said that tickets for the game are priced at $30, $50, $75, $200, $250 and $500. They will go on sale Saturday through Ticketmaster (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 8/4).
