  • Goodell Lays Groundwork For Vick's Return

    Michael Vick is one step closer to returning to the NFL after Roger Goodell lifts the indefinite suspension of the former Pro Bowl QB, allowing Vick to attend training camp should he sign with a team. Vick’s full reinstatement is scheduled to occur no later than Week 6 of the NFL season, but that is dependent on several conditions. NFLPA Exec Dir DeMaurice Smith is watching the developments intently, saying that he intends to bring up player discipline during the ongoing CBA talks. Meanwhile, opinions on the decision are predictably split. SI’s Peter King writes the move is “about as fair a decision as Vick could have hoped for," but ESPN's Howard Bryant writes Goodell “had to show how tough he is by piling on.”
