McGowan Is Heading To Denver For The Weekend

Ever wonder how executives in sports business spend their weekends? THE DAILY this week unveils our newest feature, "What's Up For The Weekend?," which will provide readers with an inside-look at who's who in our industry. Today, we catch up with CHRIS MCGOWAN, who is in his 13th year with AEG. McGowan was hired in '96 as an Account Exec and was eventually promoted to NHL Kings CMO in '07. McGowan earlier this week talked with Staff Writer Jessica Collins about his plans for the weekend.

Q: This weekend I am most looking forward to …

McGowan: Going to Denver with my wife to see my parents. I am excited and looking forward to this because I haven’t been back to Denver in a while and it’s always good to catch up with my folks.

Q: This weekend I am least looking forward to …

McGowan: We aren’t taking the kids to Denver (6 year old Ryan, 4 year old Kyle). Although it’s great to spend some quality time with my wife, I will certainly miss spending time with my kids which is what I usually fill up my weekends with.

Q: This weekend I’ll spend quality time with …

McGowan: Wife, Mom & Dad and friends in Denver that I don’t get to see often.

Q: Will you be attending any events this weekend?

McGowan: While in Denver I am attending a charity event (The Eddies Kids Foundation) on Sunday, July 26. It’s the reason we are going to Denver. The charity event is a fundraiser put on by a gentleman who started the foundation 14 years ago. The foundation raises funds that they use to purchase tickets to professional sporting events so they can donate to local underprivileged children who have made outstanding academic and civic achievements.

Q: What activities or sports will you be participating in?

McGowan: My wife (who recently took up golf) and Dad are playing golf on Saturday at Pradera Golf Club. This will be fun because I don’t get to golf that often and it’s a great way to spend quality time with my dad while I am in Denver.
