USOC Raises $4.4M From "America Supports Team USA" Initiative
Published July 23, 2009
The USOC today announced that it raised $4.4M with its new fundraising initiative "America Supports Team USA." The program, which ran from Memorial Day through Independence Day, more than doubled the USOC's fundraising goal of $2M. The $4.4M total includes a $500,000 match from Visa, an Olympic sponsor. USOC Acting CEO Stephanie Streeter said in a release that the campaign gave the organization its "most successful June ever" in terms of fundraising. The fundraising initiative included print advertisements in Time Inc. magazines and USA Today, and television advertisements on NBC, Charter Communications, CBS, Comcast, NHL Network, ESPN and others. MLB teams also ran advertisements at ballparks around the country.
