New Orleans, Round Rock (TX) Rank As Fastest-Growing U.S. Cities

The U.S. Census Bureau recently released the 25 fastest-growing U.S. cities, and according to the new data, New Orleans grew faster than any city in the country at a rate of 8.24% to 311,853. However, the city is still below its pre-Hurricane Katrina population of 484,674 based on the '00 Census. Five cities within the Dallas-Ft.Worth Nielsen designated market area (DMA) were among the top 25 growing cities in the time period, with McKinney seeing the fastest growth. In all, four of the 10 fastest growing cities were in Texas. The Raleigh-Durham and Denver markets also had three cities each in the top 25. Listed below were the top 25 fastest-growing cities as measured from July 1, 2007 through July 1, 2008. Also listed are the Nielsen DMAs where each city lies (THE DAILY).
