Tom Fox Reportedly Accepts Position With EPL Club Arsenal

Fox To Join
Club In August
Sports marketer TOM FOX has "accepted a job offer" from EPL club Arsenal, where he "will be the No. 2 executive to CEO IVAN GAZIDIS," according to sources cited by Terry Lefton in this week's SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Fox' title is "still to be determined, but it likely will be chief commercial officer, a position in which he will have responsibility for all revenue." Sources said that he "will start the new job in August." Fox would not comment. Lefton notes while some EPL clubs have "marketed themselves aggressively outside the U.K., Arsenal has not, so there is some opportunity to build the Arsenal brand." Unlike some of its "big-name rivals, Arsenal has stayed away from international tours." The club "will be the second sports property on Fox's resume," which includes former positions with the NBA, Nike and Gatorade. Fox left Gatorade in '07 for a consulting position at Wasserman Media Group, which he left in November. Exec-search firm Spencer Stuart "handled the search" for Arsenal (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 7/13 issue).
