Still Digging The Long Ball? Tix Available For Home Run Derby

Blocks of tickets remain available on the primary market for tonight’s Home Run Derby in St. Louis, marking the second straight year in which seats for the event were for sale at face value leading into the Derby. Despite sharply lowered prices compared to last year’s event at the old Yankee Stadium, blocks of up to 12 seats for this year's Derby were accessible on MLB.com. Available locations were generally in the upper levels of Busch Stadium near each foul pole. The newly-listed ticket inventory represents returns from some allotments previously designated for individual MLB clubs and departments at the league office. Yesterday’s Taco Bell-sponsored Futures Game and Legends & Celebrity Softball Game, meanwhile, was disrupted by a four-hour, nine-minute rain delay that began midway through the first inning of the Futures Game. After the heavy downpour, the Futures Game resumed amid a shortened seven-inning format. The extended rain, however, helped further spike traffic at the nearby FanFest, with very heavy crowds reported throughout the afternoon. Official attendance numbers will not be available until after the All-Star Game concludes tomorrow night, but the event’s advance sales prior to the Thursday opening of more than 85,000 tickets set a league record. MLB and the host Cardinals are projecting to surpass the all-time FanFest attendance mark of 135,000 set last year in N.Y.
