DRIVING FORCE: BEN KENNEDY, the son of ISC Vice Chair & President LESA FRANCE KENNEDY, has won three of the 13 Pro Truck races this season, and he is leading the points standings. But the ORLANDO SENTINEL’s Steven Cole Smith notes it has been a “tough couple of years for both” Lesa and Ben, as BILL FRANCE JR., Lesa’s father, died in June ’07 and a month later, DR. BRUCE KENNEDY, Lesa’s husband, was killed in a plane crash. Lesa, in a rare interview, said, “Ben and I are doing really well. First and foremost is that I know my dad would want us to go on, and my husband would, too. They were very different individuals, but they were both so full of life” (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 6/29).
GIANT OF INDUSTRY: In California, Jim Welte profiles MLB Giants Senior VP & CFO JOHN YEE, and writes Yee’s 17-year tenure has “extended from the nervous early 1990s that saw the club exploring relocation, through the boon of the new ballpark and the [BARRY] BONDS years to today’s economic downturn.” Giants President & COO LARRY BAER: “He’s kind of like our secret weapon” (Marin INDEPENDENT JOURNAL, 6/29).
