  • Thursday Fans Can Attend U.S. Open Monday

    The rain that pre-empted the first round of the U.S. Open is still wreaking havoc on the course, but it is causing more headaches in the USGA offices. The organization will allow ticket holders from Thursday’s round to attend any golf that may be played Monday, and with more rain expected over the weekend, the probability of the tournament ending Sunday evening would appear to be slim. USGA Exec Dir David Fay calls the current policy both “vague and rigid," and he admits "in the future, we're going to have to amend our policy to provide more information to the ticket purchasers as to what our policy is.” The decision will likely calm down the critics who derided the USGA’s initial stance.
