Schoenfeld Hired As New Pacific Sunwear CEO

Pacific Sunwear yesterday hired former Vans Inc. CEO Gary Schoenfeld to the same position, succeeding SALLY FRAME KASAKS, effective June 29. Schoenfeld, who also served as co-CEO & President of Global Brands Group, said that he "hoped to make Pacific Sunwear 'once again a favorite place to shop' by expanding the chain's brand mix, attracting new customers and promoting the surf-and-skate lifestyle" (L.A. TIMES, 6/18).

EXECS: Texas Tech Univ. System has hired former Spurs Sports & Entertainment Exec VP/Business Operations RUSS BOOKBINDER as CMO & Vice Chancellor, effective July 2. Bookbinder will earn about $225,000 annually (LUBBOCK AVALANCHE-JOURNAL, 6/18)....The WPS Atlanta franchise, set to begin play in '10, has hired Southern Methodist Univ. Associate AD/Sales, Sponsorship & Broadcasting SHAWN MCGEE as GM. McGee, who spent 10 years with MLS FC Dallas, will report to Team Atlanta Owner FITZ JOHNSON (WPS)....Univ. of Miami President DONNA SHALALA has joined the BOD for the USSF's bid to host the '18 or '22 FIFA World Cup (AP, 6/17)....The Oregon Sports Authority (OSA) elected ROSEMARY COLLIVER to its BOD. Previously, DiGiovine was Dir of Advertising Solutions & Partner Relations at Sportgenic (Ritchey Design).
