Chargers Eyeing Lottery Deal, Practice Jersey Sponsorship

Chargers May Feature
Advertiser On Practice Jerseys
The Chargers are "in negotiations" with California Lottery officials about "producing Chargers-themed scratch-off tickets" and also are "talking with a handful of advertisers about affixing a logo to the team's practice jerseys," according to a front-page piece by Kevin Acee of the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE. Chargers Exec VP & COO Jim Steeg: "We're pursuing and looking at all those opportunities, along with any others we come up with to grow our business and revenues for this season and beyond." Acee notes the Chargers "may be competing for a lottery deal" with the 49ers and Raiders, who are "expected to try to align with the California Lottery" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 6/11).

UNUSUAL PARTNERS: PRO FOOTBALL TALK's Mike Florio reported adult video maker Zero Tolerance Entertainment "claims that it has approached the Houston Texans regarding the availability of marketing space." The company in a press release "claimed that an offer involving 'several zeros' was made to the Texans." Florio noted the Texans last week acknowledged that they are trying to sell sponsorship patches on the team's practice jerseys (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 6/10).
