PRINCE HARRY at a recent reception in N.Y. told Jets Owner WOODY JOHNSON and QB MARK SANCHEZ that he "promised to come back to New York to attend a Jets game this fall." Harry allegedly said, "I love American football" (N.Y. POST, 6/3).
BRINGING OUT THE STARS: Game Three of the Red Wings-Penguins Stanley Cup Finals at Mellon Arena last night drew a crowd of sports-related personalities. Dick's Sporting Goods Exec VP & CMO JEFF HENNION and MLS Rapids Managing Dir JEFF PLUSH attended the game together. Plush was in town for meetings with Dick's, the naming-rights partner for the Rapids' stadium. Also, several IRL execs, including IRL and Indianapolis Motor Speedway CEO TONY GEORGE, were in attendance (Tripp Mickle, SportsBusiness Journal). Meanwhile, several Steelers players and coaches, including WR HINES WARD, LB JAMES FARRIOR and coach MIKE TOMLIN, were also at last night's game (Pittsburgh TRIBUNE-REVIEW, 6/3).
NAMES: The Hockey HOF has selected Blues President of Hockey Operations JOHN DAVIDSON, who called NHL Rangers games from '83-'06, to receive the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for "outstanding contributions as a hockey broadcaster." Davidson on November 9 will be honored alongside Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Penguins beat writer Dave Molinari, who will receive the Elmer Ferguson Award (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/3)....AD AGE has highlighted PepsiCo Global CMO JILL BERAUD and NBC Universal Senior VP/Creative Partnership & Innovation BARBARA BLANGIARDI as part of the magazine's "Women To Watch 2009" (AD AGE, 6/1 issue)....Celtics Dir of Special Projects JOJO WHITE is planning to open three sports bars in the Boston area this year (BOSTON HERALD, 6/3).
