NHL Rangers Go Against Trend, Raise Tix Prices For '09-10 Season

The NHL Rangers are increasing season-ticket prices for next season "despite a tough economy and a disappointing 2008-09 season in which the club was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs," according to Steve Zipay of NEWSDAY. While the complete breakdown of increases was unavailable, "many" ticket prices will jump 7-9%. For example, a $56 seat in Section 309 of MSG will cost $60 next season, while a $34 seat in Section 410 will jump to $37. Rangers GM Glen Sather in a letter to season-ticket holders said, "You will see a retooled Rangers team in 2009-10 that will feature a system that emphasizes aggressive forechecking and puck possession" (NEWSDAY, 6/2).
