Checketts Organizing
Group To Buy RamsThere may very well be a light at the end of the tunnel for Rams fans in St. Louis, as Blues Owner Dave Checketts is organizing a local ownership group seeking to keep the team from leaving the Gateway City. The future of the franchise has been uncertain following the recent hiring of Goldman Sachs to help broker a sale, but Checketts asserts that his group has the "financial wherewithal to own the Rams and meets NFL ownership requirements." NFL cross-ownership rules would not apply to Checketts, which gives him a leg up on Rams investor Stan Kroenke, whose ownership of the Nuggets and Avalanche precludes him from taking a controlling interest.
