Ebersol, NBC Among Honorees At 2nd SBAs
The sports industry’s heavy hitters turned out in full force Thursday for the 2nd annual Sports Business Awards, presented by SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily. About 600 execs filled the Marriott Marquis in N.Y., where 16 awards were handed out to industry leaders. The night’s big winners included NBC Sports, IMG and ESPN, with all three taking home multiple awards. Following the rousing success of the Beijing Olympics, NBC is recognized in the Best in Television category. The net's Dick Ebersol also is recognized as the Executive of the Year, and he concedes, "Very few people have had so many things go the way they've gone for us this year." In addition, the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to Peter Ueberroth.
