New Orleans To Host 10th Super Bowl In 2013

The good times are about to roll again, as the NFL names New Orleans as the site of Super Bowl XLVII in February ’13. The league awards the premier American sports event to the Superdome for the 10th time, noting the recent long-term lease between the Saints and Louisiana and plans for significant upgrades to the aging facility. Many see the Crescent City’s selection over Glendale and South Florida as a sentimental choice, citing the game as another important step in the recovery from Hurricane Katrina. ESPN’s Len Pasquarelli writes, “No city deserved the game more. Perhaps no city needed it more.”
